Fancourt has introduced The Links Experience, a newly designed nine-hole golf course crafted by legendary golfer and course architect Gary Player. This latest addition to Fancourt’s world-class golfing portfolio offers a unique and versatile playing experience, catering to golfers of all ages and skill levels.
The vision for The Links Experience originated in 2022 when Fancourt owner Hasso Plattner met with course architect Johann Jacobs. Recognizing an opportunity to transform the former Bramble golf course into an exciting new offering, Fancourt enlisted Gary Player, who has played a pivotal role in shaping its courses over the years. Two years later, the course is officially open, reflecting Player’s signature design philosophy of beauty, challenge, and accessibility.
Describing the course, Player highlighted its distinctive elements: “It’s a beautiful layout, lots of soft grasses and coloured bunkers, something very different. I designed this to give people pleasure, particularly elderly people, and it is very versatile with the fact that you can choose par 3, 4, or 5 or play strictly as a par 3. It is a thing of beauty that gives everyone a challenge, young and old.”
The Links Experience features an intriguing par 34 layout, comprising one par 5, three par 3s, and five par 4s. To enhance flexibility, dedicated par 3 tee boxes allow players to opt for a purely par 3 experience if preferred. Each hole has been given a distinctive name, adding character and charm to the course:
- Hole 1 – Wamkelekile
- Hole 2 – Down the Hill
- Hole 3 – It’ll Be a Skoosh
- Hole 4 – Devil’s Elbow
- Hole 5 – Low Land
- Hole 6 – Beag
- Hole 7 – Wide
- Hole 8 – Mulligan
- Hole 9 – Up the Hill
