The WILDERNESS ARTS FESTIVAL is once again bringing art lovers a spectacular event they won’t want to miss! For four days, the vibrant Wilderness Village transforms into a haven of creativity. Showcasing the works of 80-100 talented artists from across South Africa. This annual event brings together a wide variety of artistic expressions, offering a rich cultural experience for all who attend.

In December 2015, the Wilderness Art Community was galvanized into action. When Cabesa Gallery owners Carole Durrant and Biance Ralph spearheaded the inaugural Wilderness Open Gallery at the Wilderness Hotel. Since its inception, the Wilderness Open Gallery has evolved into a highly anticipated annual event, attracting an increasing number of participating artists each year. Recognizing the opportunity to expand the artistic footprint, organizers invited businesses to showcase artists in the Wilderness CBD, creating an engaging Art Walk throughout the town.

The momentum continued to build. Leading to the launch of the Wilderness Art Festival in February 2019.This featured the works of 67 artists, from the Southern Cape region. The festival garnered widespread support from galleries, shopping centers, restaurants, and other local establishments, solidifying its status as a prominent cultural event in the area.

As a community project, this art festival remains free and open to the public. Ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of South Africa’s artistic talent. The Wilderness Art Association invites locals and visitors alike to take part in this celebration of creativity and culture.
