A day at Kaaimans River will wear you out in a brilliant way and you’ll sleep like a log after all the action and fresh air. Rent a kayak and paddle to the waterfall or the base of the Map of Africa. If you are not scared of heights, tackle a 70-metre cliff for some abseiling fun. For shutterbugs, there’s plenty of photo opportunities, and the Kaaimans Railway Bridge in particular is quite photogenic. Swim in the river, do some hiking and have a picnic – you won’t have a dull moment! There's also a secret pathway along the side of the highway on the river side, which leads down to an unspoilt river beach where the iconic bridge can be seen up close, and the river meets the Indian Ocean. There are quite a few rocks to walk down, and no ablutions, so pack light and bring something to eat and drink.
